KAZANTZAKIS
AND BYZANTIUM
The Museum of Nikos Kazantzakis and the
Museum of Byzantine Culture, in collaboration
with the Region of Crete, have joined forces for an
exhibition that through its exhibits and archival
documents aims to highlight the unfamiliar
aspects of Nikos Kazantzakis’ multi-level and
creative relationship with the cultural wealth
of the Byzantine world and the way this was
embodied into his work.
Το Μουσείο Νίκου Καζαντζάκη και το Μουσείο
Βυζαντινού Πολιτισμού, σε συνδιοργάνωση με
την Περιφέρεια Κρήτης, ενώνουν τις δυνάμεις
τους για μια έκθεση, η οποία μέσα από εκθέματα
και αρχειακά τεκμήρια ρίχνει φως στις άγνωστες
όψεις της πολυεπίπεδης και δημιουργικής σχέσης
του Νίκου Καζαντζάκη με τον πολιτιστικό πλούτο
του βυζαντινού κόσμου και τον τρόπο που αυτή

GREEK POSTWAR ABSTRACTION

The exhibition, presented at the same time in Athens and Thessaloniki, Nikos Kessanlis, Bia Davou, Frosso Michalea, Donation of Alexander and Dorothy Xydis
is devoted to the Greek postwar art focusing in the movement of
Abstraction, amassing, mapping and recording its course through
paintings, sculptures and engravings of important Greek artists. In Kazantzakis Museum Archive, Thanos Kartsoglou, Seagull Works.
parallel, the historical richness of the MOMus’-Museum of Modern Art
collections is reexamined and highlighted. Η έκθεση, που παρουσιάζεται
ταυτόχρονα σε Αθήνα και Θεσσαλονίκη, είναι αφιερωμένη στην
ελληνική μεταπολεμική τέχνη, με έμφαση στο ρεύμα της Αφαίρεσης,
αποθησαυρίζοντας, χαρτογραφώντας και καταγράφοντας την πορεία
της μέσα από έργα ζωγραφικής, γλυπτικής και χαρακτικής
σημαντικών Ελλήνων δημιουργών. Παράλληλα
επανεξετάζεται και αναδεικνύεται ο ιστορικός πλούτος
των συλλογών του MOMus-Μουσείου Σύγχρονης Τέχνης.
