Naoussa

The Wine Story: This is the estate of Yiannis Boutaris, the ex
Mayor of Thessaloniki. The creation of the vineyard and the
decision to plant the Xinomavro variety in the late 1960s marked
the re-vinification of the entire region and in essence, brought
about the rebirth of wine in Naoussa. Today, his sons Stelios
and Michalis continue the family tradition. The Tour: Located
in Yianakohori, the highest point in the Naoussa region. The
vineyard (58 hectares) is separated into 40 sections based on the
terroir, terrain and variety/clone. In the distance, slopes covered
in vineyards, disciplined to climb them. Vines dominate the
foreground as well. In the centre stands “Koula”, the tower that
has been called an artwork for its historic and architectural value.
We continue our conversations around winemaking in the tasting
room as we savour the rich, multidimensional wines. Wine Style:
“New generation” reds, smoother, modern. Must Try: Ramnista,
Diaporos, Yianakohori. The wine story: Έίναι το κτήμα του Γιάννη
Μπουτάρη, πρώην δημάρχου της Θεσσαλονίκης. Η δημιουργία
του αμπελώνα και η φύτευσή του με Ξινόμαυρο, στα τέλη του
’60, σηματοδότησε την αναμπέλωση ολόκληρης της ζώνης και
επέφερε την αναγέννηση του κρασιού στη Νάουσα. Σήμερα τη
δραστηριότητα συνεχίζουν οι γιοι του, Στέλιος και Μιχάλης. Η
ξενάγηση: Βρισκόμαστε στο Γιαννακοχώρι, το ψηλότερο σημείο
της ζώνης της Νάουσας. Ο αμπελώνας (58 εκτάρια) χωρίζεται
σε 40 κομμάτια, με βάση το έδαφος, το ανάγλυφό του και την
ποικιλία/κλώνο. Στο βάθος, πλαγιές με αμπέλια, πειθαρχημένα
να τις σκαρφαλώνουν. Αμπέλια και στο κοντινότερο πλάνο.
Στο κέντρο τους, η «Κούλα», πύργος που έχει χαρακτηριστεί
έργο τέχνης για την ιστορική και αρχιτεκτονική του αξία.
Συνεχίζουμε τις αμπελοσυζητήσεις στην αίθουσα γευστικής
δοκιμής, δοκιμάζοντας τα μεστά, πολυδιάσταστα κρασιά τους.
Το στυλ των κρασιών: Έρυθρά «νέας γενιάς», πιο μαλακά,
μοντέρνα. Must try: Ράμνιστα, Διάπορος, Γιαννακοχώρι.
