Taking as its basis the recent
restoration works in Aghiou
Mina street, during which
the old tramline rails were
unearthed, the exhibition
approaches topics as the old
Ottoman Kapanadja Street,
the Emporiou square, the new
financial centre of Thessaloniki,
the Orient Bank, the line 1 of
the tramway carriage and the
new reconstruction of the street.
Με αφορμή τις πρόσφατες
εργασίες ανάπλασης της οδού
Αγίου Μηνά, κατά τις οποίες
ήρθαν στο φως οι γραμμές του
παλιού τραμ της Θεσσαλονίκης,
η έκθεση προσεγγίζει θέματα,
όπως η παλιά οθωμανική οδός
Καπάνατζα, η Πλατεία Εμπορίου,
το νέο οικονομικό κέντρο της
Θεσσαλονίκης, η Τράπεζα
Ανατολής, η γραμμή Νο 1 του
τραμ και η νέα ανάπλαση της

This grandiose exhibition attempts to approach the important phenomenon of copying, in the past,
in the present and the innumerable varieties it is expressed, in the framework of artistic creation.
Through a presentation that combines words, sound and images, almost 110 artifacts are exhibited
to visualize the timeless idea of copying, either as creative and symbolic inspiration or as faithful
reproduction. At the same time, the exhibition explores the crucial role of ancient Greek art in the
formation of a collective artistic lexicon in Europe. Η μεγαλειώδης έκθεση επιχειρεί να προσεγγίσει το
πολυσήμαντο φαινόμενο της αντιγραφής στο παρελθόν και το παρόν και στις αμέτρητες σε ποικιλία
εκφράσεις του, στο πλαίσιο της καλλιτεχνικής δημιουργίας. Μέσα από μια παρουσίαση που συνδυάζει
λόγο, ήχο και εικόνα εκτίθενται 110 αντικείμενα, που εικονοποιούν τη διαχρονική
ιδέα της αντιγραφής είτε ως δημιουργικής και συμβολικής έμπνευσης είτε ως πιστής
μίμησης. Παράλληλα, διερευνάται ο καίριος ρόλος που έπαιξε η αρχαία ελληνική
τέχνη στη διαμόρφωση ενός συλλογικού ευρωπαϊκού εικαστικού λεξιλογίου.
