WHO’S AFRAID OF RED,
YELLOW AND BLUE?
The title of this Modern Greek painting
exhibition hosted in the Municipal Gallery
of Thessaloniki is borrowed from the 1966
iconic exhibition of Barnett Newman,
though the theme here is not fear, but
illusions. The collection presents many
different artists, none of whom has fear
for colour, thus offering a different visual
experience aiming to initiate us into

The exhibition attempts to bring together in a symbolic manner,
through contemporary art, the two most important ports of the
country, the ports of Piraeus and of Thessaloniki, focusing on the
notion of resilience and co-belonging. It examines the means
by which people, communities and institutions seek ways to
survive, supporting primarily the weak populations. Μέσω της
σύγχρονης τέχνης, η έκθεση επιχειρεί να ενώσει σε συμβολικό
επίπεδο τα δύο σημαντικότερα λιμάνια της χώρας, του Πειραιά και
της Θεσσαλονίκης, με επίκεντρο την έννοια της ανθεκτικότητας
και του «συνανήκειν». Καταπιάνεται με τα μέσα, με τα οποία ο
άνθρωπος, οι κοινότητες και οι θεσμοί αναζητούν
τρόπους επιβίωσης, δίνοντας προτεραιότητα
